The SEMO Club Soccer team ended their fall league season with the record of 3-4-1 and finished in 4th place in their division, the highest since joining in 2013. Now, the Redhawks will enter the final week of their season playing one final game, an exhibition match against rival SIUC this Saturday, November 7th at 2PM at Houck Stadium. This will be considered their Senior Game, honoring their four seniors and also having a team dinner and awards after the game.

The team began the final week of the season with the opportunity of meeting Olympic Goal Medalist and World Cup Winner Carli Lloyd of the US Women’s National team and hearing her speak on her accomplishments throughout her career.

Seniors

Taylor Buettmann: Taylor transferred to SEMO her sophomore year after playing a season at Westminster College. She still had the itch to play soccer and found out how to start a club team and went to work. After a lot of paper work and meetings she was able to become founder and President of the SEMO Women’s Club Soccer team. She was President of the club for 3 years before handing down her reigns before her senior season. She has also been an essential part to the Redhawks defense on the field for three straight seasons, playing in every game but one. Without all of Taylor’s hard work there would be no team today.

Paige Jones: Paige and Taylor met after she found out about Taylor’s attempted to start a Club team at SEMO. Paige wanted to help out as much as she could from the start and became Vice President and co-founder of the club, helping Taylor out with the process. Paige helped run practices throughout her time with the team and was an important part to the offense. She scored multiple goals throughout her three years with the team and was a leader both on and off the the field.

Lauren King: Lauren was an original member of the team when the club started. She showed herself to be one of the top players on the team from the beginning leading the defense along with Taylor for three years. She dominated the opposition in every game she played and never would come out of the game. She played in all 7 games of her senior season and played every single minute. Her leadership and ability on and off the field will be missed.

Katie Kaempfe: Katie was also an original member of the team and was also the treasurer for two years. Due to injury she was only able to play two seasons but was the starting goalie for both years. She was the leader on the field with her calls from goal. She had an amazing Senior season not allowing a single goal in the four games she played including 3 shutouts, 2 wins, and 27 saves. She was a vital part to the success of the defense all year long.
