After a tough opening weekend on the road against Truman and WashU, SEMO came back with two big wins at home to even up their record at 2-2. The first match of the weekend came on Saturday against SIUE. SEMO started off quickly with Nicole Masters forcing a foul in the goal box resulting in a PK which she converted with ease to put the Redhawks up 1-0. That score would stand as the defense, lead by senior Lauren King as well as senior goalie Katie Kaempfe, held the Cougars (SIUE) scoreless the rest of the match.

SEMO had a quick turnaround with league favorite Mizzou coming in to town the next day. Again the Redhawks came out quickly and set the tone of the match with a goal in the first 10 min by Abby Boyer (first of the season) assisted by Nicole Masters. The defense and goalie (Katie Kaempfe) kept the Tigers without a strong shot on goal leading to a 1-0 lead at halftime. Most of the 2nd half was the same as the end of the 1st without a lot of back and forth action but no serious pressures from either side. This all changed with 12 min remaining in the match when Paige Jones took a pass from Abby Boyer and carried the ball inside the 18 where she made a great cross to Nicole Masters who finished with a goal to put the Redhawks up 2-0. This score would hold and SEMO would get their first victory in club history against Mizzou to even their record to 2-2.
